Biography

Born on May 13, 1927, in Wuppertal, Germany, Kramb studied music at the Robert Schubert Conservatory in Düsseldorf and graduated [Bühnenreifeprüfung] as an opera singer at Cologne Opera House in 1953.

After several years as a successful opera singer, Kramb’s interest turned increasingly to painting and poetry. He lived in Austria and Upper Bavaria for 20 years where he also exhibited his work (Bad Wiessee, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, etc.). Kramb regards Professor Ligges from Vorarlberg Art Academy as his mentor.

In 1983, Kramb returned to Wuppertal, where he continued to paint. Many of his paintings comprise views of his home town; in addition to these pictures of reality, he also paints surrealistic or “dream world” motifs.

In 1993, Kramb took part in the “Kunst auf der Talsohle” [Art in the Valley]. He has exhibited his paintings on the premises of the ‘Chicano’ restaurant in Wuppertal-Zoo rail station in 1993, and at numerous other showings in Wuppertal and the surrounding area.

His works form part of private collections in Bad Wiessee, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Wuppertal, etc.
